I've just spent 1 hour in my 2 hour "Geology 101" class listening to the teacher & two students go back & forth on the question of whether time really exists, or if it is just a construct of Western society. And I'll never get this time back. Thanks for that.
8 launchings into the blogosphere....:
so, does wilford think time exists?
brutal. you could have taken a nap. that would have salvaged it a bit.
dr. brimley is having a hard time arranging coherent sentences, let alone philosophies about space/time...
What is Dr. B's opinion on the reality of time? Geological eras? The "age" of the universe?
I truly have no idea on his thoughts on the matter - we didn't even get any useful info (e.g. pertaining to GEOLOGY) today - I took notes from the book & occasionally checked in with the monopolized discussion where 2 wannabe quantum theorists (who've watched way too much pseudo-science on NOVA!) bounced meaningless words back & forth with dr. brimley.
I call him dr. brimley because he is a dead ringer for wilfred brimley. His real name is Firby, which is a good name for cool animatronic stuffed animals.
You could ask him how old he believes he is.
Or if he has kids, did he celebrate their birthdays growing up?
This "discussion" sounds a lot like trying to read Descartes. *Gags*
